I’m pretty sure Bon Iver sleeps beneath the bar here.
It takes a certain kind of place to be able to take all that is either from Montana or the epi-center of Hipster Williamsburg, with all of it’s flannel and oak and antlers, and combine it with all that is also Williamsburg; with it’s late-night drinking habits and love for pizza and empenadas. It’s cozy as a bunny’s pajamas in this place, and they play awesome music, too. The exterior is adorned with American flags and rusty sheet metal, and while normally I’d be quick to call ‘B.S.’ on a place like this; there’s something damn likable about it. Maybe it’s that while each of my friends drank the night away I had two beers and four empenadas. I didn’t even walk around, just sat at the bar and ordered serving after serving of glorious, high-quality empenadas. They have a late-night pizza and empenadas menu, and happy hour menu. So, here’s your spot if you’re trying to eat and drink all damn night. The beer selection is quality, and the food is frickin’ good. Personally, the shrimp empenadas are your best bet, because they come with a womping big serving of guacamole plopped on top. So cheesy, so shrimpy; and best of all, they have Valentina hot sauce all up and down that bar. New favorite place. Bye.
