I went back on Saturday Night after Night of Joy. The votes are in; it’s still a really fun bar.
Those of you who have read this blog for a bit know two things: One, I love when a bar my friends want to drink at has food that I want to eat. Why should a girl have to choose between socializing and getting my drunken grub on? Think Shelter, think the Woods (ultimate love-hate in life), and then; add “Jerk Menu” to the mix.
The second thing I love, is a bar that’s dynamic. Something that allows you to do something different without having to change venues. There’s seats and tables, a pool table, a front bar, a back bar, an inside, and an outside, and music, and food. No matter what you want to do, you can do it here, and that’s awesome. The food, particularly my Jerk Chicken empanada, because they were 86 jerk wings (saddening), was delicious. And, affordable. So I’m happy. My cocktail, which had a cayenne rim (the Ochos Rios, as you’ll see below), was delicious too. In the future, if my drinks don’t come with a cayenne rim, I’m not ordering it. Coffee and drinking water included.
Here’s my original review of Battery Harris, and the only additional information that I can provide is that it’s still a rave review here at Brooklyn Munch, and I can’t wait to get back, especially when it’s warm out. Actually, I think this might be my favorite bar / Caribbean restaurant, all in one. Also, here’s a post on their brunch menu.
Where: Frost & Leonard, Williamsburg | How Much: Not much, drinks are like $6-10, food is about the same. Jerk patties are $4. Cards OK.
