Preferred Office of 2014.
It’s true, the best part of being a food blogger is that you need not leave your house on a rainy day. But what about the days where it’s finally so warm and so sunny, that the perfect way to work seems like your Ray Ban’s and a quality drip coffee out on the back patio, with Bob Marley playing on your Spotify, and no boss nor annoying phone call for miles? For those of you sitting in an office in Midtown, or Financial District, or anywhere for that matter, I feel for you.
While Spring does mean that my allergies are in full swing, determined to destroy me, it also means that I can make the move back to my preferred Brooklyn Munch headquarters; El Beit Coffee Shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Why? Simply because they’ve got a big outside area, both covered and uncovered. You can sit in the sun or the shade, and you can sit there all day. Their slightly industrial and baron feel is quickly balanced by big pieces of raw wood and happy yellow metal chairs. I feel like I’m at the beach or in Sweden, I suppose just anywhere besides busy Brooklyn. Very zen, and very summery, is how I would describe it. If you’ve got to meet anyone for a coffee in this neighborhood, definitely do it here. Their coffee and espressos are good (49th Parallel, roasted out of Vancouver Canada), and standard prices for the area, but it’s really the atmosphere here that keeps me coming back. It’s a bit of a hike for me, being on the North Side, just a block past the Bedford L stop, but certainly worth the trip, because my office now has trees and a sky and a breeze. Normally I say, “enjoy,” but this time, “please excuse me, while I enjoy!”
